Svetlana Turubanova Research Associate sveta@umd.edu Svetlana received her Ph.D. from the Russian Academy of Science in 2002 with specialization in ecology. Her research interests include boreal forest ecology, forest fire, and biodiversity. She has recently been involved in several projects on mapping forest cover change at global and national levels. Projects: Principal Investigator Implementing the Global Land Cover Analysis and Discovery (GLAD) System for monitoring forest and trees outside forests in Bangladesh Projects: CO Investigator Global Land Cover and Land Use Monitoring in Support of Environmental Sustainability Global Forest Watch Projects: Researcher Updating Primary Forest Loss Dynamics in Indonesia 2017-2018 Synthesis of studies on Institutional change and LCLUC effects on carbon, biodiversity and agriculture after the collapse of the Soviet Union Integrating MODIS, Landsat and GLAS in characterizing forest extent, structure and change Quantification of Indonesia’s Forest Cover Loss 1980‐2000 and Provision of Exhaustive Monitoring System on Natural Forest Deforestation 1980-2016 Publications: Margono, B.A., Turubanova, S., Zhuravleva, I., Potapov, P., Tyukavina, A., Baccini, A., Goetz, S., and Hansen, M.C.
