Principal Investigator: Matthew Hansen Co Investigators: Peter Potapov Sponsor: USDA, USFS - International Programs Time Period: 2013 to 2015 Researchers: Yamile Talero Ramirez Project Description As part of the Silvacarbon initative, UMD GLAD team will work with colleagues at partner agencies in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia on enhancing land cover and forest monitoring in support of national carbon accounting programs. This will include the development of 2000 to present forest extent and change maps, training on product derivation and iteration, and presentation of ideas for validating national-scale forest extent and change maps. Additionally, we will derive a generic six-class land cover map for the Andean region (cropland, grassland, forest, urban-industrial and wetland). Related Publications: Potapov, P.
